American Shelf at the Central Public Library

On Friday, May 12, U.S. Ambassador G. Kathleen Hill inaugurated an American Shelf at the Central Public Library.  Thanks to the support of the U.S. Embassy, the general public will enjoy a number of graphic novels by well-known American authors.  Among the titles are March by civil rights activist and Congressman John Lewis, Zita The Space Girl by Ben Hatke, and Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.

Ambassador Hill praised the initiative to engage young readers.  “I am proud to support literacy and education through this donation of American graphic novels,” she said.

Following the presentation of books, Ms. Cheryl Falzon, CEO Malta Libraries, Ms. Margaret Zammit, Deputy Librarian, and Mr. Ryan Scicluna, Assistant Librarian, University of Malta, gave Ambassador Hill a tour of the library’s facilities.

The donation is part of an awareness campaign by the NGO Graphic Novels Library Malta (GNLM) to expand and enhance the visibility of the Graphic Novels Collection at the Library.
