Remembering Daphne Caruana Galizia

On October 16, 2017, Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered in a heinous attack because she took risks to expose corruption.  Today, six years after the murder of Ms. Caruana Galizia, justice has not been fully served.

We condemn those who would employ violence to silence dissenting voices.  The United States consistently advocates for rule of law reforms worldwide.  Here in Malta, we try to foster responsible and independent media and create a safe and enabling environment for journalists.  We reiterate the importance of transparency and openness to safeguard good governance.

Daphne Caruana Galizia’s memory lives on in the persistent fight for justice and reform that she inspired.
