This summer, volunteers from the U.S. Embassy delivered presentations to students attending ten public summer schools in Malta and Gozo.
U.S. Embassy staff visited centers in three localities in Malta – Fgura, Lija, and Luqa in Malta, and spoke with students who attended four schools in Gozo – Gharb, Kercem, Sannat, and Ghajnsielem. Three other summer schools – Siggiewi, Attard and Pembroke – visited the U.S. Embassy and enjoyed presentations and tours around the Embassy grounds.
Students learned about National Parks and animals found in the United States, Native Americans, and popular American sports. At Lija’s summer school, students got the opportunity to play basketball and softball with Embassy staffers. Another school read the book “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” with the Embassy PAO. Each center received books donated to the schools’ libraries on behalf of the U.S. Embassy.
The U.S. Embassy’s ongoing school outreach program reaches hundreds of students a year, and supports educational programming and promotes literacy.
