Soul Street Dance Spreads Love through Hip-hop

A Houston-based group, Soul Street Dance, inspired young audiences and spread its message of love and unity through hip-hop in Malta and Gozo in October 2017.

The dance company entertained audiences at a local outdoor festival, BirguFest, performed at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology with local groups MOVE, Breaking Limits and Street Elements and enjoyed an evening with children and parents at the migrant family center in Hal Far.  Soul Street Dance also led workshops and shared their artistic skills with Street Elements’ young hip-hop artists, children at two primary schools and two middle schools, and dance, theater and music students at the University’s School of the Performing Arts.  Participants practiced different styles of choreography, and Soul Street Dance encouraged them to stay active and healthy.

Soul Street Dance’s visit to Malta and Gozo was sponsored by U.S. Embassy, Valletta, through the U.S. Department of State Arts Envoy program.
