U.S. Embassy Announces Julia Taft Refugee Fund Opportunity for NGOs

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 U.S. Department of State Julia Taft Refugee Fund opportunity for local non-governmental organizations.  This funding opportunity is intended to meet gaps in assistance worldwide by issuing grants of up to $25,000 for NGOs to lead projects that benefit refugees or returned refugees.   This funding opportunity stands as a prestigious and long-lasting effort of the U.S. Department of State to work with local partners on refugee integration, employment, and empowerment.

The U.S. Embassy invites local NGOs to submit proposals that feature sustainable, quick-impact projects that meet gaps in assistance for refugees or returnee communities in Malta, including but not limited to, projects aimed at providing tools to enhance competitiveness in the employment market or otherwise promote self-sufficiency.  The projects should benefit populations of concern, at least 50 percent refugees, or returned refugees, and the host community.

NGOs may request a maximum of $25,000 for programs that will take place during the approximate period of September 15, 2022, to September 30, 2023.  Organizations currently receiving funding from the United States will be given lower priority in the selection process.

Please refer to the U.S. Embassy’s website for further information (https://mt.usembassy.gov/grant-opportunity-julia-taft/).  The deadline for proposals to reach the U.S. Embassy is February 4, 2022.
