U.S. Embassy Celebrates Black History Month

Every year in February we commemorate Black History Month.

This year we hosted two movie screenings at the U.S. Embassy – “Selma” and “Driving Miss Daisy”. U.S. Ambassador G. Kathleen Hill and PAO Susan Ross introduced these movies. They touched on themes address in the movies: the U.S. civil rights movement, race relations, equality and human rights.

PAO Susan Ross discussed these themes with students in a presentation about Toni Morrison’s novel “Beloved” to forty English literature students and staff at the high school Junior College in Msida.  She also gave a lecture to first year journalism students at the University of Malta on the influence of the media on the civil rights movement in the U.S.

The U.S. Embassy is also proud to support TNT Theatre and ADG Europe’s performance of “The Life and Death of Martin Luther King” being performed at the Mediterranean Conference Center in Valletta on March 3 and 4, 2016.
