U.S. Embassy Visits Six Schools in Malta and Gozo

U.S. Embassy staffers delivered presentations to primary and secondary school students attending six in Malta and Gozo during April and May 2017.

Public Affairs Officer, Susan, presented on the life and works of American playwright, Arthur Miller, at St Benedict Secondary School in Kirkop. They discussed Miller’s classic, “A View from a Bridge.”  At Naxxar Primary School, U.S. Embassy staffer, Oliva, read American picture books “Where the Wild Things Are” and “A Chair for My Mother.”  We also enjoyed a visit to beautiful Gozo, where volunteer, Chriselda, spoke with students at San Lawrenz and Qala Primary Schools about American geography, and animals and National Parks in the United States.  In May, we visited Paola and Marsa Primary Schools.  Students learned about space science and exploration with our Coast Guard Attaché, Jody, and volunteer, Chriselda.

Each school received books donated to the schools’ libraries on behalf of the U.S. Embassy to promote reading among school children.

The U.S. Embassy will continue its school outreach program when summer school starts in a couple of months.
